BARRY CONSULTING Ltd, produce manage and present performers and shows worldwide. It represents every type of popular musicians, dancers, choreographers, actors and directors. It advises and supports artists of all nationalities in a variety of places and medias, including theaters, arenas, festivals, television, radio and cinema.
Company founder and Event Producer, Seydou Barry has over 20 years experience in the field. He organized his first festival of Afro-Jazz in 1987 in his hometown of St Chamas, in the south of France. After three years as producer and artistic director, he produced a hugely successful show with the renowned jazz pianist Michel Petrucciani. Next, he promoted a concert with the group pop rock group Niagara. Then followed this by arranging James Brown’s highly publicized first Caribbean tour.
The ‘90s, Barry brought together in concert Mr. Ahmad Jamal and Philippe Petrucciani Quartet and presented the stand-up comic revue Les Inconnus, gospel singer Liz McComb. He also promoted and arranged the concert for the opening party of the Stadium de Vitrolles, which featured the French Rap group IAM.
Barry presented jazz musician Roy Haynes and arranged James Brown’s extensive European tour. In Paris, Brown performed at " La fete de la Musique " - a nationally celebrated festival, sponsored by Ricard (SA). Barry also organized with M6TV and CBS News the documentary " The Saga of James Brown," which chronicled his European tour. He also set up Brown’s performance on TF1, a major French television channel, in a special that featured Johnny Hallyday and Celine Dion among many other
stars.
In 2001, Barry was appointed cultural advisor for the President of SAN and the mayor of Miramas. Artistic Director of the theatre la Colonne, he created the "Jazz Club" and "Miramas sous les Etoiles" a World Music Festival, free to the public, with artists like Steel Pulse, Raoul Paz, Rachid Taha, Opus Akoben, Bernard Lavilliers, Mino Cinelu, Meditation, Brain Damage, C4 and Frederic Galliano and the Africans Divas. At the same time, he continued to research projects in Africa, Europe, Asia and the United States.
Now based in New York (USA) and Aix en provence (France), Barry is working with acclaimed choreographer and dancer Marie-Claude Pietragalla, actress Catherine Vallon-Duflot, jazz legends Ahmad Jamal, Yusef Lateef, Archie Shepp, Marcus Miller, the virtuose pianist Hiromi and guitarist Philippe Petrucciani, the phenomenal French street theater company, Le Royal de Luxe and the legend, Michael Lang, Founder and Producer of Woodstock.
